My fascination with fabric began with sewing classes in elementary school and has continued to this day. I am a professionally trained architect and have worked in various sectors of that field. In recent years my architectural training has proved to be useful when I design the layout and geometry of a new quilt. I enjoy playing with geometric shapes and manipulating them into an arrangement that will capture a person’s attention and draw him in for a closer view. This is the first step in the creation of a new quilt. I love the challenge of manipulating and assembling fabric of various colors and prints to best compliment my design, this is the second step. The final step is the stitching over the top of the fabric creation. This enables me to create or eliminate transitions between fabrics and colors. I like to think of the quilting as the final brush strokes on my latest work of art.
